No Villains
For years, I organized my life into characters.
The heroes.
The villains.
The rescuers.
The ones who broke me.
The ones who saved me.
It made the story easier to understand.
Until one day…
It didn’t anymore.
As I healed, something unexpected happened.
The villains started looking…
Human.
Not innocent.
Not justified.
Just human.
People carrying wounds I couldn’t see.
People making choices I wouldn’t have made.
People acting from fear, pain, habit, or limitations.
That didn’t erase what happened.
It changed the lens through which I remembered it.
Looking back now, I can honestly say something I never thought I’d be able to say.
My past contained exactly the amount of pain it took for me to wake up.
I wouldn’t have chosen those experiences.
I wouldn’t wish many of them on someone else.
But I also can’t deny who they’ve helped me become.
If my story had been easier…
I might never have learned how deeply I could love.
How fully I could forgive.
How quietly I could create.
How peacefully I could live.
Whether we were teachers in one another’s lives by design or simply by circumstance, I no longer need to know.
It’s enough for me to recognize that we all changed one another.
Even the chapters I once wanted to erase.
Especially those.
Because without them…
I wouldn’t have become the woman writing these words.
🌼 Closing Invitation
Before you leave this garden…
Think about someone you’ve spent years casting as the villain in your story.
Not to excuse what happened.
Not to pretend it didn’t hurt.
Simply to ask yourself:
What did this chapter teach me about who I am becoming?
Sometimes healing doesn’t rewrite the past.
It simply allows us to read it with kinder eyes.
