Cast Your Vote How We Become Ourselves One Conscious Choice at a Time
For a long time, I thought becoming a better person meant simply making better choices.
But healing taught me to look deeper.
Two people can make the exact same choice for completely different reasons.
I can help someone because generosity reflects my values.
Or I can help because I’m afraid they’ll stop loving me if I say no.
Same action.
Different vote.
Little Jasmine first learned to change her behavior because she was afraid of what would happen if she didn’t.
Adult Jasmine gets to choose differently.
Not because someone might yell my middle name.
Not because I need approval.
Not because I need to prove that I’m good.
I choose because I know the kind of woman I want to become.
Maybe character isn’t built through one enormous decision.
Maybe it is a lifetime of tiny elections.
And every time awareness places the ballot back into our hands, we get another opportunity to ask:
Who am I voting for today?
I Didn’t Heal the World. I Healed Mine. And maybe that is how the ripples begin.
For a long time, I thought healing had to mean something enormous.
I thought maybe if I healed deeply enough, I could somehow heal the world.
I don’t know that anymore.
What I do know is this:
My healing healed my world.
It changed the voice inside my own head.
It changed what I tolerate.
It changed the way I love.
It changed the way I experience an ordinary day.
I stopped living in other people’s opinions.
I stopped living entirely in the past.
I stopped waiting for the future to become better than the life I already had.
Healing didn’t give me a perfect existence.
It taught me how to live the one I was already standing in.
Little Jasmine kept walking long enough to get me here.
Now I get to live the life she carried all this way.
Thoughts Are Allowed in the Car They Just Don’t Get the Keys
I used to think peace would come when I finally figured out how to silence my mind.
Now I know better.
My mind never needed to disappear. My ego never needed to become my enemy. The baby never needed punishment. The chaotic coworker never needed termination.
They needed leadership.
They needed awareness.
They needed someone to stay.
And today, I did.
For hours, I stayed with myself so fully that the part of me accustomed to running the whole operation finally seemed to realize:
Oh. She’s home.
My thoughts are allowed in the car.
They just don’t get the keys.
Once I Could Name It
I thought healing meant the old feelings would never return. Instead, healing taught me something better: they can return, and I do not have to go with them. Once I could see it, I could name it. Once I could name it, it lost its grip.
The Space Between: Emotional Regulation in Real Time
Healing created a space between what happened and what I did next. In that tiny pause, I realized I did not have to carry someone else’s mood, defend myself, shrink, or react. I could choose.
End the War With Yourself
What if the parts of yourself you’ve been fighting aren’t evil, broken, or defective?
What if they’re simply running old programming?
We collect beliefs about love, safety, worth, rejection, and belonging long before we’re old enough to question them. Then we grow up, mistake the programming for our identity, and hate ourselves every time the old code runs.
But you can’t heal what doesn’t feel safe enough to be seen.
Maybe healing doesn’t require beating the ego into submission. Maybe it begins by becoming safe enough to tell yourself the truth, question the programming, and lovingly remind the parts that once protected you:
We’re not surviving that life anymore.
The Slightly Chaotic Coworker
What if your ego isn’t the enemy?
What if it’s just your slightly chaotic coworker—the one who has too many ideas, thinks everything is urgent, and somehow finds a way to create work even when you specifically told her not to? 😂
In this chapter, I share what happened when I stopped trying to “defeat” my wandering mind and started meeting it with humor, curiosity, and one simple phrase:
Welcome back.
Because maybe presence isn’t never leaving.
Maybe presence is becoming a safe place to return to.
Soul Alignment is Surprisingly Simple
What if soul alignment isn’t something mystical you finally achieve, but something you practice on an ordinary Tuesday? Maybe alignment is simply when the way you live agrees with what you know matters: be where your feet are, tell yourself the truth, care for your body, protect your peace, create, love, and come back when you wander. You don’t have to transcend your humanity to find your soul. Maybe the whole point is learning how to be completely here.
Every Thought is an Invitation
Every thought is an invitation to an internal conversation. The freedom isn’t in controlling what shows up—it’s in remembering that awareness gets to decide which invitations deserve an RSVP.
You Are the Observer
You are not your thoughts. You are not your emotions. You are the awareness noticing them. And once you remember that, you gain something incredibly powerful: the space to choose your response.
The Popcorn Method
What happens when your mind takes one tiny piece of information and turns it into a full-blown soap opera?
In The Popcorn Method, I share how I caught my ego spinning a dramatic story—and instead of shaming myself or believing every word, I sat back, laughed, and asked it to continue. Because sometimes healing is not silencing the mind. Sometimes it is becoming safe enough to hear the truth without letting the story take over.
After Healing isn’t all Sunshine and Rainbows
I used to think healing would make life easier. Instead, it made me harder to hijack. The interruptions didn’t disappear—I simply learned to meet them with a little more presence, a little more humor, and a lot more grace.
Heaven Mirrors the Heart
What if the world isn’t simply happening to you? What if, more often than we realize, it reflects the way we’re relating to ourselves? This is the story of how changing my inner conversation slowly began changing the life I experienced.
Watching the Baby
Your ego isn’t the enemy. It’s the baby. What if healing isn’t about fighting your mind, but lovingly learning to watch it?
Reset, Regulate, Re-Enter
Life will flash red lights. Machines will break. Plans will change. The invitation isn’t to be perfect—it’s to pause, breathe, and remember how to come home to yourself.
